Feature:

In the presence of a catalyst, chlorooctane reacts with methylamine to first obtain bis-octylmethyl tertiary amine, and then reacts with methyl chloride in a medium of water and isopropanol at a certain temperature and pressure to obtain  dimethyldioctylammonium chloride.Or in the presence of a catalyst, the amination reaction is carried out by a mixed gas of octanol, hydrogen and methylamine, first to obtain bis-octyl methyl tertiary amine, then add a small amount of alkali and an appropriate amount of isopropanol to the autoclave, and after replacing the air with nitrogen. Finally, dimethyldioctylammonium chloride is prepared by reacting with methyl chloride at a certain temperature and pressure.

Ingestion of dimethyldioctylammonium chloride is poisonous. When heated to decompose, it releases toxic NOx and Cl- vapors.

Dimethyldioctylammonium chloride has the following applications/functions:

1. Dimethyldioctylammonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium based antimicrobial agent which is used as a bacteriostatic, disinfectant and/or microbicides.

2. Dimethyldioctylammonium chloride is ideal for recirculating water systems where control of undesirable microbes without excessive foam is essential.

3. Dimethyldioctylammonium chloride is used in the precipitation of silver ions and may be applied to the novel formation if nanoprecipitations using single reverse micellar system.

4. Dioctyldimethylammonium chloride is used as catalyst, emulsifier, antistatic agent, flocculant, etc.

5. Dimethyldioctylammonium chloride has strong ability and is one of the third-generation products of quaternary ammonium salts. It is used as an algaecide for swimming pools, an agent for oil field water, an agent for industrial circulating cooling water systems, etc. It is composed of octyl decyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (50%), bis-octyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (25%), and bis-decyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (25%), which accounts for 60%, and chlorine Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium accounts for 40% of the fourth generation quaternary ammonium salt agent, which has excellent performance and is suitable for the treatment of industrial water under the conditions of organic dirt and hard water pollution.
