ENROFLOXACIN 20%
Name: ENROFLOXACIN 20%
CAS: 93106-60-6
Feature:
ENROFLOXACIN 20% is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It is a bactericidal agent. The bactericidal activity of enrofloxacin is concentration-dependent, with susceptible bacteria cell death occurring within 20–30 minutes of exposure. ENROFLOXACIN 20% is a synthetic antibacterial agent from the class of the fluoroquinolone carboxylic acid derivatives. ENROFLOXACIN 20% has demonstrated a significant post-antibiotic effect for both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria and is active in both stationary and growth phases of bacterial replication. Enrofloxacin is partially deethylated by CYP450 into the active metabolite ciprofloxacin, which is also a fluoroquinolone antibiotic.
ENROFLOXACIN 20% is a quinolinemonocarboxylic acid that is 1,4-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxylic acid substituted by an oxo group at position 4, a fluoro group at position 6, a cyclopropyl group at position 1 and a 4-ethylpiperazin-1-yl group at position 7. It is a veterinary antibacterial agent used for the treatment of pets. It has a role as an antibacterial agent, an antineoplastic agent and an antimicrobial agent. It is a quinolinemonocarboxylic acid, a quinolone, an organofluorine compound, a N-alkylpiperazine, a N-arylpiperazine and a member of cyclopropanes.
ENROFLOXACIN 20% has the following applications/functions:
1. ENROFLOXACIN 20% works by inhibiting the process of DNA synthesis within the bacterial cells, which results in cell death. This drug is commonly used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including those of the skin, urinary tract, and respiratory system, as well as infections that result from wounds.
2. It is not effective against anaerobic bacteria and can be variably effective against Streptococcus infections. Enrofloxacin has a similar spectrum of activity as ciprofloxacin but enrofloxacin has been shown to have better bioavailability. Except for cerebral spinal fluid, enrofloxacin attains therapeutic levels in most tissues of the body. This makes it a very attractive antibiotic choice for difficult-to-treat infections, particularly those that need long-term antibiotics. Some examples might be osteomyelitis, sinus infections, otitis, difficult soft tissue infections, peritonitis and pleuritis, or pneumonia.
