Brodifacoum is a new anticoagulant rodenticide with high efficiency

Brodifacoum is the second generation anticoagulant rodenticide with wide target spectrum and strong toxicity, ranking first among anticoagulants. Brodifacoum has the advantages of acute and chronic rodenticides. The toxicological effect is similar to other anticoagulants. It mainly hinders the synthesis of prothrombin, damages microvessels, and leads to massive bleeding. The incubation period of poisoning is generally 3-5 days. Pigs, dogs and birds are sensitive to the drug and safe to other animals. Brodifacoum is one of the anticoagulant rodenticides with strong toxicity, which not only exceeds the first generation anticoagulants, but also exceeds most acute drugs. Therefore, the use of brodifacoum can get a good killing effect only by feeding once. Brodifacoum can effectively kill resistant mice, which is a typical second-generation anticoagulant rodenticide. Brodifacoum is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and has good palatability. Rats do not refuse to eat poison bait. Because the acute toxicity of brodifacoum is too high, which is 715 times that of warfarin, it is very dangerous to non target animals and should be used carefully. It has good palatability, target spectrum, slow action, good effect, not easy to secondary poisoning, good detoxification methods, and can eliminate the existing resistant mice.

Although brodifacoum has strong acute toxicity, its action rate is still very slow. If the bait is fed according to the saturation poisoning method of anticoagulant, it will inevitably lead to large consumption of bait and waste. When killing rats with brodifacoum, intermittent feeding method is adopted, that is, after the first feeding, it is fed again every 4 ~ 7 days. In this way, the mice that eat the poison bait for the first time have become ill or even died by the second feeding, and will not consume the poison bait. This can save manpower and poison bait, and reduce secondary poisoning. Because those poisoned mice don’t have too many rodenticide active ingredients in their bodies.

Brodifacoum is an efficient new anticoagulant rodenticide, which can kill mice resistant to brodifacoum for many hours. A small amount of poison bait and single feeding can kill mice, and there is no need to make front bait. The feeding amount of brodifacoum in each pile is less than that of other anticoagulants. Rats will die after feeding poison bait for a few days, but it has no avoidance effect on brodifacoum. Multiple feeding is not required, so the number of processing can be reduced.

Method for using brodifacoum poison bait.

Kill rats: Place 20-30g poison bait every 5 meters in rat holes and places where rats often feed, drink, nest or haunt. If necessary, add poison bait once every 7 days or so until there is no rat feeding. Or put 50-100g poison bait into the bait to protect the poison bait and prevent livestock and poultry from approaching and eating by mistake. Feeding points shall avoid feeding by non target animals and birds, and shall not be placed in wet places.
