Flibanserin: A drug for female hypoactive sexual desire disorder

The new drug Flibanserin is the world’s first drug to help women with low libido, reducing the libido suppressant serotonin to boost libido stimulating dopamine levels. The drug has been approved by the us food and drug administration.

Scientists have developed a new “female viagra” drug, flibanserin, which stimulates the central nervous system of women’s brains and restores their libido. The drug is expected to go on sale within two years.

The effect of flibanserin was also discovered by chance when it was tested as an antidepressant. Participants in the study said they experienced increased libido, although their depression symptoms did not ease.

Before that, researchers had found that women who took flibanserin experienced increased libido on a daily basis, a phenomenon that has been extensively tested in clinical medicine. The gradual recognition of the drug’s strange effects means it could be on sale in the UK within the next two years.

The drug works directly on areas of the female brain that control sexual pleasure, restoring a woman’s flagging libido. By regulating the system that stimulates libido, flibanserin helps restore the inhibitions and excitability that lead to a healthy sex life. The effects of the drug are not immediate, and it can take weeks to work. The female viagra also had side effects, with one in eight women tested suffering from dizziness, fatigue and sleep problems.

One in four women around the world suffer from low libido, according to incomplete statistics, which bodes well for sales of female viagra, which is estimated at £2bn a year.

While the male viagra was previously used to treat heart disease, flibanserin was originally used as an antidepressant, but in clinical trials it has been shown to improve the mood and libido of women. Tests on more than 2,000 women with low libido have shown it has the same libido boosting effects as male viagra.

Unlike viagra, flibanserin regulates chemicals in women’s brains. In addition, while viagra works for most men, flibanserin only works on women with significantly lower libido. If the druggist has lost interest in someone, he cannot be “awakened” by flibanserin. “Flibansiline doesn’t make the Chemicalbook overly libido,” says Anita Clayton, a consultant at the company that develops drugs. “it’s not an aphrodisiac. However, it will take some time for the drug to work, and flibanserin needs to be taken daily by women.”

On June 5, 2015, the federal health advisory board of the United States voted by 18 to 6 on June 4 to conclude that the therapeutic efficacy of “female viagra” far outweighs the potential risk of accidental injury, and recommended that the us food and drug administration (FDA) approve the drug, which is expected to be the first drug marketed to promote female libido.

Researcher Dr Elaine Jolly said: ‘by modulating the body’s libido-stimulating system, flibanserin helps restore the inhibitions and excitability that lead to a healthy sex life. The drug’s effects are not immediate and can take weeks to work. The female viagra also had side effects, with one in eight women tested suffering from dizziness, fatigue and sleep problems.
