Pangamic Acid —— An incredible nutrient

Pangamic Acid —— An incredible nutrient

Pangamic Acid is a white crystal that is easily soluble in water. Pangamic acid, the prefix Pan- means “broad” and gamic- means “seed”, indicating that pangamic acid is a chemical component that is ubiquitous in seeds. In 1951, Krebs et al. discovered pangamic acid in almonds, and then they isolated crystalline pangamic acid from rice bran, and then extracted this water-soluble factor from brewer’s yeast, cattle blood and horse liver. It is generally believed that all natural foods with B-complex vitamins contain pangamic acid. Among them, sunflower, pumpkin seeds, yeast, liver, rice, whole grains, and almonds are natural sources of pangamic acid. Therefore, a normal diet generally does not cause a deficiency of pangamic acid. At present, the understanding of pangamic acid is still quite limited, but it is a controversial compound, and the focus of the dispute lies in its nutritional status and physiological function on the human body. pangamic acid is not a vitamin, because no disease has been found so far that can be completely attributed to the lack of pangamic acid.

Anti-aging

Supplementing pangamic acid can slow down the death rate of healthy cells, and can also remove free radicals in the body. Because these free radicals can cause aging and damage our skin, hair and other vital organs. Therefore, pangamic acid as a nutritional supplement or infused into related skin care products may help keep skin and hair young and healthy.

Heart health

Pangamic acid can be used to prevent fatty liver, improve tissue oxygen metabolism rate, and sometimes used to treat coronary heart disease and chronic alcoholism. The intake of pangamic acid can lower blood cholesterol, relieve coronary artery stenosis and asthma symptoms, and prevent liver cirrhosis. Then it stimulates the immune response and helps synthesize proteins. It is mainly used to fight fatty liver and improve the oxygen metabolism rate of tissues.

Obtaining pangamic acid through diet is the safest and most effective way. Foods rich in Pangamic acid include brown rice, raw almonds, sesame and pumpkin seeds. Whole grains are also an ideal source, but hybrid or genetically modified varieties provide less nutrients than traditional rice.
